Not allowed to visit Saint Martin`s in Feb, spend nights in Nov  

The government has limited tourism in Saint Martin's Island in Cox's Bazar during the peak season with a view to protecting the country's lone coral island from environmental pollution caused by growing tourists.

The Council of Advisers took the decision on Tuesday.

Some of the decisions are tourists will be allowed into Saint Martin's Island in November but they cannot stay there at night.

In December and January, the tourists will be allowed to spend nights. However, the number of tourists cannot exceed 2,000 per day.

On the other hand, tourists will not be allowed in the island in February for cleaning operations in the island.

Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir said this at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy following the advisory council meeting.

Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder as well as Assistant Press Secretaries Nayem Ali and Shuchismita Tithi were present during the briefing.
