Cyclone Dana: Dhaka experiencing rainfall

The deep depression over the Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas has turned into Cyclone 'Dana' and moved further north-westward.

Under the influence of the approaching cyclonic storm Dana, the capital Dhaka, has been experiencing rainfall. Heavy rain began this noon (October 24) and continued intermittently.

According to meteorological department sources, Cyclone Dana may hit the coast in between Thursday evening and Friday afternoon. Following the impact of cyclone, the rainfall may increase further.

At 12pm today, the cyclone was centered about 570 kms Southwest of Chattogram port, 535 kms Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 435 kms South of Mongla port and 435 kms South-Southwest of Payra port.

Under the peripheral effect of the cyclonic storm, heavy (44-88 mm) to very heavy (289mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind may occur over North Bay, their offshore islands, chars and coastal areas of Bangladesh.
