44 police personnel killed during uprising

The Bangladesh Police Headquarters has published a detailed list of the 44 personnel killed during the July-August student-led uprising.

The list published on Friday includes the names of killed police personnel, their ranks, units, dates of dying and places of death.

Of them, 14 were killed in Dhaka city and 14 in Sirajganj. In addition, 16 policemen were killed in several districts including Khulna, Dhaka district, Narayanganj, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chandpur and Gazipur.

“We have noticed that some news outlets and also some people have been deliberately spreading lies and misinformation on the number of policemen who were killed during the July-August student-led uprising,” the statement read.

The police department maintains a detailed record of them who were injured or killed. So, there is no scope to spread misinformation, it added.
