Moin Abdullah, son of former lawmaker of Abul Hasanat Abdullah, has been placed on five-day remand in a case filed over the murder of Jauba Dal leader Shamim in 2023. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ragib Nur passed the order on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, investigation office of the case Tanmoy Kumar Bishwas, sub-inspector of Paltan police station, produced Moin before the court and pleaded for 10-day demand.

Police arrested Moin Abdullah from the city's Gulshan area on Friday (October 26). 

According the case documents, BNP called a grand rally on October 28 in 2023. The Awami League also called a rally on the same day. 

An attack with the association of police personnel carried out on the BNP, leaving many activists injured. Later, Juba Dal leader Shamim died. 

A case has been filed on September 24, 2024 with the Paltan police station. 

Moin was also accused of possessing explosive substances and several other cases under the Penal Code in Barishal.
