Stocks in free fall: Investors are in panic

The country's capital market experienced a fourth consecutive day of decline in trading on Monday (October 28).

Investors are losing their capital every day due to the continuous decline, according to the concerned people in this sector. Losing everything, the investors are almost penniless. It seems that there is no one to save the stock market.

In this situation, forced sale (compulsory share sale) is being done to adjust the loans given to investors from merchant banks and brokerage houses. As a result, the investors are in panic due to the forced sale now. Investors and related parties are considering this situation as a silent 'bleeding'.

Investors claimed that the stocks in their portfolios declined 60 to 70 percent. Investors are being pushed to death in the name of capital market reforms. However, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) or the authority has no attention in this situation of the capital market.

However, BSEC said that this ups and down in the capital market is unusual. BSEC is looking into the matter in deeply. A four-member investigation committee has been formed to investigate the matter.

Market analysis data shows that, both the capital markets have dropped today like yesterday. On this day, the main index of DSE, DSEX, fell by 66.86 points to 4,898 points, which is the lowest in four years.
