3 burnt in explosion in Shyampur flat

Three people were burnt in a fire caused by accumulated gas at a flat at Shyampur in the capital early Tuesday (October 29).

The fire originated around 3 am at the flat.

Those who sustained burn injuries are Tushar, 35, Jamal Uddin, 50, and Jamil Hossain, 25. They have been admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with critical conditions.

Md Tariqul Islam, a resident surgeon at the burn institute, said Tushar was admitted with 100 per cent burns, Jamal with 75 per cent, and Jamil with 55 per cent burn wounds.

Dipu Rahman, a relative of the burnt people, said the three people were gossiping on the seventh floor of the building. When Jamal lit a gas lighter for cigarette, the fire broke out and it spread across the whole flat, leaving three injured.

Later, they were rushed to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
