Committee formed to monitor enforcement of polythene ban

A five-member committee has been formed to monitor the enforcement of banning the use of polythene shopping bag in the country.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change issued a circular in this regard on Tuesday.

The convener of the committee is the Additional Secretary (Environment Pollution Control and Law Division) of the ministry. Its members include the Joint Secretary (Environment-1), Deputy Secretary (Environment Pollution Control-1 and 2), and the Senior Assistant Secretary (Environment-3).

Starting from 1 November, the committee will oversee nationwide enforcement operations for the polythene ban.
