Students of seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) are observing ‘Science Lab Blockade’ programme demanding a separate university.
The road blockade resulted in acute traffic jam in the Science Lab intersection and caused extreme suffering to commuters. Vehicular movement came to a standstill on the roads surrounding the Science Lab intersection.
Like the previous couple of days, the students started the blockade around 11am on Wednesday (October 30).
The agitating students said they gave a 24-hour ultimatum yesterday (29 October), but relevant authorities did not pay any heed to their issue. They said they will continue protests until demands are met.
New Market police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohsin Uddin told risingbd that: “The protest being spearheaded by students of seven colleges is a matter of the Ministry of Education. We have talked to the students to ensure that the ordinary people do not suffer.”
