Names of 6 govt medical colleges changed

The names of six government medical colleges have been changed to reflect the respective district name instead of an individual’s name.
This was confirmed in a notification signed by Dr Md Sarwar Bari, secretary of the Medical Education and Family Welfare Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Wednesday (October 30).
According to the notification, Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Tangail is now Tangail Medical College, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College in Faridpur is now Faridpur Medical College, M Abdur Rahim Medical College in Dinajpur is now Dinajpur Medical College, Colonel Maleque Medical College in Manikganj is now Manikganj Medical College, Abdul Malek Ukil Medical College in Noakhali is now Noakhali Medical College and Sheikh Hasina Medical College in Jamalpur is now Jamalpur Medical College.
The notification states that this order will be effective immediately.
