Cyber attacks: Bangladesh Bank warns banks

Bangladesh Bank has received information about illegal transactions using Facebook Ad Manager on dual currency cards in some banks of the country.
The regulatory body of the financial sector also found out that general users were affected by these transactions. Bangladesh Bank has issued warning regarding the cyber attacks.
Bangladesh Bank said this information on Thursday (October 31).
According to Bangladesh Bank, active ybercriminals in various social media are constantly harassing the customers of the country's banks. Recently, the trend of global cyber attacks has been increasing. The trend of cyber attacks is increasing alarmingly in the banks of Bangladesh. Banks are constantly being attacked by various malware. Bangladesh Bank has issued various instructions to protect the users from cyber attacks.
In case of possible data breach or ransomware attack, Bangladesh Bank is asked to be notified immediately. To verify the information, it has been asked to verify the CVV with the biometric method in each transaction.
Banks have been asked to use One Time Password (OTP) for every transaction. Besides, it has been asked to raise awareness among bank employees about fake QR codes.
According to Bangladesh Bank's guidelines, it is also said to use 2FA/MFA for any financial transaction.
