Dr Shahadat takes oath as CCC mayor

BNP leader Dr Shahadat Hossain took oath as mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC).

AF Hassan Arif, adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives and Ministry of Lands, administered the oath at the secretariat’s conference room at 10:45am on Sunday (November 3).

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by some BNP leaders along with top administrative officials.

According to Maruful Haque Chowdhury, Shahadat’s private secretary, the event was attended by 27 guests, including party leaders and family members of the newly appointed mayor.

On October 1, Election Tribunal judge as well as Joint District and session judge Mohammad Khairul Amin declared Shahadat as the mayor, canceling Rezaul Karim’s victory.

The court also directed the election commission secretary to publish a gazette within next 10 days, which was released on October 8 following the ruling.
