7-day remand sought for Gaan Bangla TV CEO Taposh

Police sought a seven-day remand for Kaushik Hossain Taposh, CEO and musician of Gaan Bangla, the country’s only music-focused television channel, in an attempted murder case filed with Uttara West Police Station in Dhaka.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Mohibullah of Uttara East Police Station, also the investigating officer of the case, applied for the remand prayer on Monday (November 4).

The remand hearing will be held in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman.

Earlier, law enforcers arrested him from Gulshan area of the capital.

According to the case documents, on July 18, during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, businessman Ishtiaque Mahmud and others participated in a demonstration. Supporters of the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League reportedly attacked and fired shots near Nawab Habibullah High School in Sector 4 of Uttara East.

Ishtiaque sustained a bullet wound in his abdomen and received treatment at Evercare Hospital.

A case was later filed in this connection.

Earlier, on August 5, Gaan Bangla’s studio located on Pragati Sarani in Dhaka was vandalized.
