UK team in country to provide medical support to injured students

A United Kingdom (UK) Emergency Medical Team (EMT) has arrived in Bangladesh to provide specialised medical treatment to the students injured during the July-August 2024 uprising.
On November 5, a two-member team visited National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
NITOR Director Dr. Kazi Shamim Uzzaman said, a two-member team of doctors from the UK visited 65 injured patients at the hospital.
They will give detailed reports on 14/15 of these patients on Wednesday. Later, based on the reports, the UK doctors will perform the necessary surgeries. The UK team of doctors will remain in Bangladesh until November 18 for the good treatment of the patients.
This deployment is taking place in response to a formal request for assistance from the interim government.
The team consists of an orthopaedic surgeon, a physiotherapist, rehabilitation expert and a clinical coordinator.
