A special court in Dhaka acquitted Rafiqul Islam Madani, popularly known as ‘Shishu Bokta’, of the charges of four cases filed under Digital Security Act (DSA).
Judge Nur-e Alam of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal passed the order on Wednesday (November 6), accepting a plea for the Islamic orator.
Public prosecutor Md Rafikul Islam confirmed the news.
“The four cases were filed with Tejgaon, Motijheel, Paltan and Gacha Police Station of Gazipur. The witnesses could not tell anything against Rafiqul, saying they do not know anything about the charges. The court after scrutinizing all the facts and documents, relieved him from the charges in those four cases,” he said.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on April 8, 2021, arrested Rafiqul from his house in Netrokona and filed a case under Digital Security Act with Gacha Police Station. Later three more DSI cases were filed against him.
