10-day remand sought for Amir Hossain Amu

Police have applied for a 10-day remand for former minister and Awami League advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu in the murder case of businessman Abdul Wadud in the capital’s New Market area.
Jahangir Arif, the investigating officer of the case, applied for the remand of Amir Hossain Amu, who is also the coordinator of AL-led 14 party alliance.
A hearing regarding the remand will be held in Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court in presence of Amu, Arif said.
Earlier, the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the Awami League leader Amir Hossain Amu from the Dhanmondi area in the capital on Wednesday (November 6).
According to the case documents, businessman Abdul Wadud was shot dead by the police in the Nilkhet area under the New Market police station on the afternoon of July 19 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
In this incident, his brother-in-law Abdur Rahman filed a murder case against 130 people including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former bridges minister Obaidul Quader, and others.
