Bangladesh Bank has fixed charges for online income tax payment.
As a result, taxpayers no longer have to worry in paying charges in a bid to file e-returns through internet banking.
On Wednesday (November 13), Payment Systems Department of Bangladesh Bank issued instructions in this regard on Wednesday.
The National Board of Revenue has launched the online return filing system for e-return taxpayers from September 9. Taxpayers can pay income tax through internet banking, card payments and mobile financial services (MFS) or payment service provider (PSP) wallets.
In order to further encourage taxpayers and facilitate online income tax payment, fees or charges have been set for income tax payment through card payments, internet banking and MFS or PSP wallets.
A maximum of Tk 20 (including VAT) per transaction can be collected from a customer using cards issued in Bangladesh and internet banking and a maximum of Tk 50 (including VAT) per transaction above 25 thousand taka.
For transactions made using MFS or PSP wallets, a fee of 1 percent per transaction or a maximum of 30 taka (including VAT) will be charged to the customer. No chargeback will be applicable against these transactions. This directive will come into effect immediately.
