A writ petition has been filed with the concerned branch of the High Court seeking its necessary directives to cancel all power agreements with Adani Group of India.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister M Abdul Qaiyum filed the public interest writ petition with the court on Wednesday (November 13).
Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury will hear the petition.
The writ highlighted the need to reconsider or revoke these allegedly “unfair and one-sided” contracts.
The writ also called for a review committee consisting of energy and legal experts to give a detailed report.
The Chairman of the Bangladesh Power Development Board and the Secretary of the Energy Ministry were made respondents in the petition.
They will have to reply to the writ within three days.
On November 6, Abdul Qaiyum served a legal notice asking the government to review its electricity contract with Adani Group. Otherwise, the notice sender will file a writ petition with the High Court seeking necessary directives in this regard.
