Indemnity provision for quick rental illegal: HC

Responding to a writ petition, the High Court declared sections of the quick rental law that prevented legal challenges were illegal and unconstitutional.
The bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury passed the order on Thursday (November 14).
In the order, the High Court said giving immunity from legal bindings to quick rentals by forming law was illegal and unconstitutional.
Advocate Dr Shahdeen Malik stood for the writ and was accompanied by Barrister Cynthia Farid.
Earlier on September 2, the High Court issued a rule asking why the provision that acquits rental and quick rental power plants from any questioning regarding establishment and operations should not be declared illegal.
