Plea filed to keep ex-Bhola lawmaker Mukul behind bars

Police have filed an application to keep former lawmaker from Bhola-2 constituency Ali Azam Mukul behind bars in a case filed over the murder of Nahidul Islam at Mirpur in the capital on July 19 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Sub-inspector (SI) of Mirpur Model Police Station Al-Amin Talukdar, also the investigating officer of the case, produced Mukul before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars on Thursday (November 14).
Hearing will be held in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Ali Azam Mukul, also the nephew of veteran Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed, from Hazaribagh area in the capital around 7:30PM on Wednesday.
Nahidul Islam was killed on July 19 at Mirpur in the capital during the student movement.
