Ex-Bhola lawmaker Mukul sent to jail

Former lawmaker from Bhola-2 constituency Ali Azam Mukul has been sent to jail in a case filed over the murder of Nahidul Islam at Mirpur in the capital on July 19 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sefatullah passed the order on Thursday (November 14), rejecting his bail petition.
Earlier, Sub-inspector (SI) of Mirpur Model Police Station Al-Amin Talukdar, also the investigating officer of the case, produced Mukul before the court and pleaded to keep him behind the bars.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Ali Azam Mukul, also the nephew of veteran Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed, from Hazaribagh area in the capital around 7:30PM on Wednesday.
Nahidul Islam was killed on July 19 at Mirpur in the capital during the student movement.
