A Dhaka court has sent former Dhaka-7 lawmaker Solaiman Salim to jail in a case lodged over the murder of Md Rakib Hawlader during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zunaid passed the order on Thursday.
Police produced him before the court and sought a 10-day remand.
The court also said the hearing on his bail plea will be held on November 27.
A team of Chawkbazar Police Station arrested Solaiman Salim, also son of ex-MP Hazi Salim, from Gulshan area on Wednesday midnight.
Rakib got shot as the Awami League and its front and associate bodies fired live rounds and hurled crude bombs on the protesters during the student-people movement at Chankharpool crossing in the morning on August 5.
The Awami League goons even stopped the people from rescuing Rakib and taking him to the nearest hospital.
He was later rushed to Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital, where the attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Victim’s father Md Jahangir Hossian filed a case on September 23.
