British Under Secretary Catherine West is set to come to Dhaka next week on a two-day visit.
This will be the first visit by a British official since the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh.
Foreign ministry’s Public Diplomacy wing director general Toufique Hasan confirmed the information in response to a question in a weekly media briefing at the ministry on Thursday (November 14) afternoon.
This will be her first visit to Bangladesh since Catherine took charge as State Minister for Indo-Pacific Affairs at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in July last.
Toufique Hasan told the media briefing that Catherine will stay in Dhaka on November 16-17. During the visit, she is expected to pay a courtesy call on Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain.
He said that one of the goals of Catherine West’s visit is to cement the relationship between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom by strengthening the economic, strategic and immigration partnership.
