Army alerts people about extortion using its name in industrial area

The Bangladesh Army has issued a warning against the fraudulent activities using its name in the jhut (unused fabric from garment factories) business.
ISPR issued a notification in this regard on Friday (November 15).
According to the notice, it has been noticed that some unscrupulous individuals and vested quarters have been using the names of army officers to take proprietary control of jhut businesses and engaging in fraudulent activities, tarnishing the reputation of the army.
The Bangladesh Army is only performing its duties to control the law-and-order situation in the industrial areas and ensure a productive working environment. It is not within the purview of the Army to make any recommendations regarding illegal business or any other business in the industrial sector, said the ISPR.
