British Under Secretary Catherine West is set to come to Dhaka today (November 16) on a two-day visit.
This will be the first visit by a British official since the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh.
British High Commission in Dhaka in a statement on Friday (November 15) night said British Under Secretary for Indo-Pacific Strategy Affairs Catherine West will come in Dhaka on a welcome visit.
Meanwhile, Foreign ministry’s Public Diplomacy wing director general Toufique Hasan in a weekly media briefing at the ministry on Thursday (November 14) afternoon said that Catherine will stay in Dhaka on November 16-17. During the visit, she is expected to pay a courtesy call on Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain.
He said that one of the goals of Catherine West’s visit is to cement the relationship between Bangladesh and the United Kingdom by strengthening the economic, strategic and immigration partnership.
This will be her first visit to Bangladesh since Catherine took charge as State Minister for Indo-Pacific Strategy Affairs at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in July last.
