8 more die of dengue

At least eight dengue patients died in the country during the past 24 hours till Saturday morning.

About 994 new patients were admitted to different hospitals during the time. 

A press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said this on Saturday.

During the period, 119 dengue patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 65 in Chattogram, 238 in Dhaka division, 236 in Dhaka North city while 148 in Dhaka South, 74 in Khulna, 61 in Rajshahi, 46 in Mymensingh, one in Sylhet and six were admitted to different hospitals in in Rangpur division, it said. 

With these new deaths, the total number of dengue-related fatalities rose to 407. Last year, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 3,21,179 dengue cases.
