Titumir College students leave road, rail line

Several hundred students of Government Titumir College blocked the road and the rail line in the capital’s Mohakhali on Monday noon, demanding the college to be transformed into a university.

At that time, the traffic movement was halted and Dhaka’s rail link with other parts of the country was snapped.

It was learnt that at around 3:30 pm, the government called student representatives to the ministry of education to discuss the issue. Later, a 12-member delegation went to the ministry.

The delegation includes Mehedi Hasan, Mahamudul Hasan, Jahangir Sunny, Aminul, Nur Uddin Zisan, Kausar Ahmed, Mosharraf Hossain, Toha, Nur Mohammad, Habib Ullah Roni, Abdul Hamid and Nirab Hossain.

The students said the next program will be announced after a meeting with the ministry of education.

Titumir College students placed three demands-Titumir College should be separated from the 7 colleges by canceling its affiliation with Dhaka University, a commission should be formed to transform Titumir College into a university and the government should formulate an outline for implementing an independent university.
