Head of Police Reform Commission Safar Raj Hossain has said that they have proposed to lift the provision of political identity in police verification of job seekers.
He said this while talking to newsmen after a meeting with Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at the secretariat on Monday (November 18) afternoon.
Police verification is required for government, semi-government or bank jobs. This process of police verification has been followed since 1928. It has been going on for about 96 years. According to the manual of the British law, several types of questions and investigation are done here. As a result, many potential job seekers are often excluded, said Safar Raj Hossain.
Another tradition is followed -- whether there is anyone among relatives of the candidate doing politics, and whether there is anyone against the state. It used to be thought in the context of the British rulers. Recently an allegation has been found that the relatives of a candidate do politics, but don't do the ruling party politics. And they were not given jobs showing this lame excuse. It has been found that candidates were deprived of job if their aunts, uncles or others were found involved in politics. We have proposed to discard this tradition, he said.
