Ex-law minister Anisul placed on 5-day remand

Former law minister Anisul Huq has been placed on a five-day remand in a case filed over the killing of garment worker Fazlul Karim.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Imran Ahmmed passed the order on Wednesday (November 20).
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) police inspector Md Mahmudur Rahman, the case's investigating officer, produced the accused before the court seeking a ten-day remand.
According to the case statement, Fazlul Karim was injured by gunfire while participating in the anti-discrimination student movement on August 5. He was admitted to Kuwait Maitree Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, the victim’s brother filed a case with Uttara Purba police station mentioning 40 names as suspects.
