Battery-run rickshaw drivers stage demonstration in Mohakhali area on Thursday morning

Battery-run rickshaw drivers have been staging demonstration by blocking roads at various points of the capital in protest against the High Court decision banning the vehicles from the Dhaka metropolitan area.

It is reported that battery-operated rickshaw drivers have blocked Mohakhali, Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Basila, Mirpur, Shewrapara, Gabtoli and Demra areas in the capital from 9 AM on Thursday (November 21), causing massive traffic congestion on these roads and significant inconvenience for commuters.

Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan, deputy commissioner of the Tejgaon Division of police, confirmed this to risingbd.

He said efforts are being made to remove the battery-operated rickshaw drivers from the streets considering the suffering of the ordinary people.
