Bangladeshis advised to be alert to travel to five countries

The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has warned Bangladeshi citizens planning to travel to Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.
According to the ministry, some fraudulent individuals and scam organizations in these countries are advertising attractive job offers, such as computer operators, typists, and call center operators, through fake websites, emails, and platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Telegram.
These scam centers trap citizens, including Bangladeshis, into their operations and force them at gunpoint to participate in fraudulent activities.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok has already facilitated the return of several Bangladeshis who were rescued or escaped from scam centers in Myanmar and Cambodia.
Relevant governments have been urged to take necessary actions.
Bangladeshis seeking jobs abroad are encouraged to verify job offers through the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Bureau of Manpower, Employment, and Training (BMET), or relevant embassies abroad.
Additionally, scam centers are using Facebook and WhatsApp to target individuals, including Bangladeshi citizens abroad, for financial fraud.
These criminals exploit cryptocurrency transactions to instantly shut down accounts and embezzle funds.
Bangladeshi citizens at home and abroad have been advised to exercise heightened vigilance while using social media.
