"Steps to be taken regarding auto-rickshaw per court orders"

Lt. Gen. (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the home affairs adviser of the interim government said that the autorickshaw problem will be resolved as per the High Court's directions.

The adviser said this while addressing reporters after a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Law and Order at the secretariat on Sunday (November 24).

In reply to a question on the issue of protest of auto-rickshaw drivers, he said this is a matter of court now. If I give an answer on it now, it may be a contempt of court. We will work according to the instructions that come from the High Court.

"We expect good instructions and will implement them accordingly," he added.

Earlier on November 19, the High Court ordered authorities concerned to stop the operation of battery-powered rickshaws on the streets of the Dhaka Metropolitan.
