Ex-IGP Mamun placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former inspector general of police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on a three-day remand in a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order on Monday morning (Monday 25).

Earlier, investigation officer Md Mahmudur Rahman of the case produced him before the court seeking 10-day remand.

On September 3, Detective Branch of the police arrested Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun. From then, he was taken on remand several times.

According to the case statement, the victim Fazlul Karim joined in anti-discriminatory movement in the Uttara area of the capital on August 5. At one stage, he received bullet injuries. Later, he died under treatment around 9:19pm at Kuwait Friendship Hospital. Following the murder, Anwar Hossain Aynal, brother of the victim filed the murder case with Uttara West Police station mentioning 39 names.
