Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College attacked, looted

Students of Kabi Nazrul Government College and Government Shahid Suhrawardy College carried out an attack on and vandalized Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) at Demra in the capital’s Jatrabari area, leaving several students injured.
They launched the attack on the college around 12:30 pm on Monday (November 25) and looted various things including books, chairs and tables.
DMP Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations Muhammad Talebur Rahman said, “Police are on high alert in and around Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College area and they are working to normalize the situation. Adequate number of police members have been deployed in the area.”
Nahid, a student of Kabi Nazrul Government College, said, “Students of Dr Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College yesterday launched an attack on our college. In protest against the attack, we carried out the attack today.”
On November 16, Abhijit Halder, an HSC student of Demra’s Dr Mahbubur Rahman Molla College, was admitted to the medicine department of the hospital with dengue. He died on November 18.
After that, students vandalised the hospital alleging negligence in treatment at the hospital on Sunday.
They alleged that students from Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy Colleges supported by National Medical College attacked them.
Later, students from 35 colleges clashed with the students of Kabi Nazrul and Suhrawardy Colleges and vandlised property of the two colleges on Sunday, leaving at least 20 people injured.
