Auto-rickshaws to run without interruption for another month

The Chamber Court has stayed a High Court order that directed the authority concerned to stop the operation of battery-operated auto-rickshaws in the Dhaka city within the next three days.
Chamber Judge Md Rezaul Haq passed the order on Monday (November 25).
As a result, the battery-operated rickshaws will have no interruption to play in roads for another month.
Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman and Additional Attorney General Arshadur Rouf stood for the state.
Barrister HM Sanjid Siddiqui and Barrister Tahsina Tasnim Mridu stood for the writ. Barrister Ruhul Quddus stood for the common citizens.
Barrister HM Sanjid Siddiqui said that the Chamber Court has given a stay order for one month. As a result, there is no legal obstacle to the movement of battery-powered rickshaws on the roads of Dhaka.
On November 19, the High Court ordered authorities concerned to stop the operation of battery-powered rickshaws on the streets of the Dhaka Metropolitan. A High Court bench comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Mahmudur Rajib passed the order.
The order asked the Home Secretary, Local Government Secretary, IGP, Dhaka Police Commissioner, authorities of the two Dhaka City Corporations and other concerned to implement the court order.
Battery-operated rickshaw drivers blocked different Dhaka roads and rail lines protesting the High Court decision banning the vehicles from the Dhaka metropolitan area.
Battery-operated rickshaw drivers blocked Mohakhali, Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Basila, Mirpur, Shewrapara, Gabtoli and Demra areas in the capital, causing massive traffic congestion on these roads and significant inconvenience for commuters.
