Ex-MP Henry permanently barred from leaving country

A Dhaka court has imposed a permanent travel ban on former lawmaker from Sirajganj-2 constituency Jannat Ara Henry.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday, following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Assistant director of the ACC Asif Al Mahmud filed the petition. 

Earlier, on September 19, the court imposed travel ban on Henry for 60 days.

ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir moved the petition before the court and said investigation are ongoing against Henry over the allegations of amassing illegal wealth beyond known sources of income. 

He sought permanent travel ban on Henry, saying she could leave the country any time with illegally amassed money.
