Information Adviser Nahid Islam speaking at a regular press briefing
The interim government sees so many incidents in one day, starting from organizing a crowd under the pretext of offering interest-free loans, as a conspiracy.
Information Adviser Nahid Islam said this at a regular press briefing held at Foreign Service Academy on Monday evening.
He said an investigation is underway to find out conspiracies that are obstructing reform measures.
Regarding the role of the police in these incidents, the information adviser said, "The police were weak in taking appropriate actions. But it must also be accepted that the police are in a restructuring process. If the police had taken the same role as before, more unpleasant incidents could have happened.”
“If people have any allegation against any newspaper, they can raise it but this must be a peaceful one. We do not support the vandalism in newspapers’ offices or giving pressure to stop publication of newspapers,” he said.
The information adviser said such incidents will not be tolerated in the future and legal actions will be taken against those involved in newspaper office vandalism.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam and Deputy Press Secretary Apurbo Jahangir were also present at the press briefing.
