Tapashee Tabassum Urmi secures bail on surrender

A Dhaka court granted bail to suspended assistant commissioner Tapashee Tabassum Urmi in a defamation case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Imran Ahmed passed the bail order around 10:30am on Thursday (November 28).
Lawyer Mehedi Hasan Patwari moved for the petition while advocate Khademu Islam opposed the bail plea during the hearing.
Earlier on October 8, a Dhaka court summoned Tapashee Tabassum, an assistant commissioner (executive magistrate) at Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner's Office, for her adverse remarks about Abu Sayeed and others who were killed during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.
Later, the court asked Tapashee to appear before it on November 28 after taking into cognizance of a case against her.
