DNA report confirms Harris Chowdhury`s identity

A DNA test on the remains from a grave has confirmed that the body buried under the name "Mahmudur Rahman" was BNP leader Abul Harris Chowdhury.

The DNA test report was submitted before the HC bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubina Asaf on Wednesday (December 4).

Earlier, the members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) exhumed the body on a High Court order that came following a writ petition submitted by Haris Chowdhury’s daughter Samira Tanzin Chowdhury.

On September 4, 2021, reports revealed that the body of Abul Harris Chowdhury, a former political secretary to ex-prime minister Khaleda Zia, had been buried under the name "Mahmudur Rahman" at the Jamia Khatamun Nabiyin Cemetery in Savar, Dhaka.
