BNP acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said, “After August 5, some of our party men are feeling that we have probably formed a government. I want to say, we did not form any government, we are not a government party, we are still in the opposition. They are making a mistake and our party is suffering due to their behaviors in different places, the party's image is being damaged”.
The BNP acting chairman was addressing a workshop in Chattogram through a virtual platform on Wednesday.
Tarique Rahman asked his party leaders and activists to refrain from any activities that can erode people’s trust.
BNP Training Affair Committee organised the Chattorgam Divisional workshop titled “31-point State Structure Reform Proposal and the Public Engagement" at Chattogram Engineers' Institute.
He said the next election will be very tough for his party as many conspiracies continue and many invisible forces are working against the BNP.
BNP leaders and activists had to face torture and repression for the last 15-16 years, he said and added, “Please don’t spoil our achievements and sacrifices by committing small mistakes. We should be conscious so that our achievements and sacrifices do not go in vain".
“BNP wants to run the country with the support of the people, the source of power is the people.
Therefore, we must take a programme to reach the grassroots with the 31 points,” he said.
He asked his party leaders and activists to take its 31-point reform proposal to the doors of the people.
BNP Chattogram Divisional Organizing Secretary Mahabuber Rahman Shamim presided over the workshop while BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, central BNP leaders Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Mosharraf Hossain and Joint Organizing Secretary Barrister Mir Helal Uddin, among others, spoke as the special guests at the training workshop.
