Zunaid Ahmed Palak put on 3 days fresh remand

A Dhaka court placed former state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak on a three-day remand in connection with the murder of student Monir Mia in the capital’s Chankharpul area during mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sefatullah passed the order on Monday morning (December 9).
Earlier, Palak was presented in court by the police after being brought from jail. The investigating officer in the case, Sub-Inspector Sheikh Hadiuzzaman of Shahbagh police station, sought a seven-day remand.
The defense lawyer appealed for bail and the cancellation of the remand, while the prosecution opposed the bail and argued in favor of the remand. After the hearing, the judge granted a three-day remand.
During the movement on August 5, Manik Mia, a Chhatra Dal leader from Munshiganj, lost his life after being shot in the head in Chankharpul, Dhaka. Following the incident, a plaintiff named Raju Ahmed (30) filed a murder case against 79 people, including Sheikh Hasina, at the CMM Court in Dhaka. Palak is named as second accused in the case.
