Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said that the both sides are interested to clear the cloud formed in the sky of Bangladesh-India relations.
At the same time, she said, “India is keen to take forward and further strengthen the bilateral relations”.
The adviser said this while talking to newsmen at the state guest house Jamuna on Monday.
Earlier, Indian External Affairs Secretary Vikram Misri held a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
A total of 19 diplomats of European countries, stationed in Dhaka and New Delhi, also called on the Chief Adviser at the Chief Adviser's Office.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan briefed about the outcome of two meetings.
Rizwana said India expressed its interest to boost bilateral ties with Bangladesh and willing to work on issues related to mutual interest.
The Chief Adviser informed him about the propaganda being spread by a section of Indian media against Bangladesh.
Referring to issuing Indian visas to Bangladeshis, she said Vikram Misri has assured that steps would be taken to increase the number of Indian visas for Bangladesh nationals.
From Bangladesh's side, the government reiterated its desire to see SAARC play a stronger role and emphasised the importance of regional cooperation within BIMSTEC, she added.
