BNP wants the upgradation of voter list, not a door-to-door campaign for the 13th national election.
Abdul Moin Khan, a member of the standing committee and convener of the party's election reform committee, made the demand at a press conference held at the chairperson’s Gulshan office on Monday (December 9).
Moin Khan said, “Actually, we want to make a truly honest and accurate voter list... but then we won't go door to door; we can take help from computer AI... if we tell the computer, it can do it itself... that will be absolutely accurate.”
“Going door to door is very time-consuming, unnecessary and there is a lot of possibility of mistakes. The name of the person who has died will be automatically excluded.... We have clarified this issue (voter list) in the reform proposal, it will be upgraded”, he said.
At the press conference, Moin Khan presented ten reform proposals, including removing the previous government's RPO amendment, changing election management rules, revising party and candidate codes, improving election observation and increasing the Election Commission's capacity.
The party has submitted these reform proposals to the Election Reform Commission set up by the interim government, he said.
Standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan said, “It is possible to carry out the election process within three or four months. There is no proposal here that requires anything new to be done. There is no need to delay the electoral process too much by following the proposals we have made.”
