Govt to buy 45 million cycles of birth control pills 

Currently, there is no birth control pills in 460 upazilas of the country. After completing legal procedures, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has taken the initiative to collect around 45 million cycle pills (third generation).

The pills will be purchased through five lots under a package. The total cost will be 216.450 crore taka.

The oral pills will be collected with funding from the GOB (Development) and RPA (GOB) sectors of the operational plan titled Family Planning-Field Services Delivery (FSD) of the Family Planning Directorate under the Department of Health, Education and Family Welfare.

Procurement of 45 million cycles of Sukhi (3rd gen) is under process, it will take several months to get the supplies in hand, according to DGFP officials.

According to the ministry, these pills will be sent to various field-level service centers and distributed to the recipients through a 'door-to-door' method through service providers (family welfare assistants).
