Workers block roads in Tejgaon at night, severe traffic jam

Agitated workers blocked a road in the capital’s Tejgaon industrial area, causing severe traffic jam in the area.
On Tuesday (December 10) night, after spreading news of the arrest of Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Drivers Union President Talukder Md. Monir, the workers blocked the Tejgaon-Satrasta road and started a demonstration, setting fire.
It is learnt that after the evening, the workers gathered at different places in Tejgaon to protest the arrest.
Then took position on the Tibet and Satrasta intersection, causing a severe traffic jam on the road. The traffic movement was completely stopped until 9 pm.
Snehashis Das, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of the Tejgaon Traffic Department's Industrial Zone, said, “The Tibet and Satrasta intersection has been blocked. The traffic movement is also completely stopped on the side streets except the main road. Senior officials are at the scene.”
Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station OC Gazi Shamimur Rahman told the media, “Talukder Md. Monir, a leader of a pro-Awami League labor organization, was arrested. He is the president of the Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van Drivers Union. He was arrested this afternoon in a murder case filed at Paltan Police Station. Efforts are underway to bring the situation under control”.
