Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal’s income tax file seized

A Dhaka court has ordered to seize the income tax file of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

Acting judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Md Ibrahim Miah passed the order on Thursday, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam filed the plea before the court, while Public Prosecutor Salauddin Iskander King stood for the anti-graft body.

The court on September 1 imposed a travel ban on Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, his wife Lutful Tahmina Khan, daughter Safia Tasnim Khan and seven others. Five cases were filed against five people, including Kamal by the ACC on September 15. The accused were implicated for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 79 crore.

Nine bank accounts of the former home minister were frozen after the filing of the cases. There are about Tk 12.11 crore in the accounts.
