The High Court has issued a rule asking the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to explain the legality of its apparent disinterest in probing allegations against Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and Tulip Siddiq over embezzling $5 billion from the Rooppur nuclear power project.
The High Court bench, comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Mubbina Asaf, issued the rule on Sunday (December 15).
Barrister Sahedul Azam Tamal moved for the petitioner in the court.
Earlier, on September 3, a writ petition was filed in the High Court seeking an investigation into the alleged embezzlement of $5 billion, equivalent to Tk60,000 crore from the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (RNPP) involving Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and niece Tulip Siddiq through a Malaysian bank.
