President hosts reception for East Timor President

President Mohammed Shahabuddin and his wife Dr. Rebeka Sultana hosted a reception for President of East Timor José Ramos-Horta at Bangabhaban on the occasion of the country's 54th Victory Day.

President of East Timor, who is on an official visit to Bangladesh at the invitation of the Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus, joined the reception on the lush green lawn of the Bangabhaban on Monday afternoon.

Several thousand guests, including Chief Justice Syed Refaat Hassan, council of advisers, ambassadors, high commissioners of different countries attended the function.

José Ramos-Horta cut a ceremonial cake in the VVIP enclosure.

A ceremonial guard of honor was presented by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Bangladesh Army, Navy, and Air Force. 

The East Timor President also signed the visitor’s book at the memorial, leaving a message of respect and remembrance.
