5 more die of dengue

Five more people died from dengue in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

A total of 274 were admitted to hospitals with the mosquito-borne disease across the country during the time.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued a press release in this regard on Wednesday.

Among the new patients, 33 were hospitalised in Barishal division, 41 in Chattogram, 61 in Dhaka, 38 in Dhaka North and 40 in Dhaka South city, 43 in Khulna, four in Rajshahi, two in Sylhet, three in Rangpur and nine admitted to hospitals in Mymensingh.

This year, the total number of infection cases rose to 99,569 while total death reached to 556, the release said.

Last year, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 3,21,179 dengue infection cases.
