Mamun, Ziaul among 8 being produced before ICT in genocide case

A total of eight accused including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and former army officer Major General Ziaul Ahsan who are arrested for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity and genocide during the July-August mass uprising, will be produced before the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today.
The accused will be produced before a three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumdar, also the chairman of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT).
The accused include former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, former Jatrabari Police Station OC Abul Hasan, former superintendent of Dhaka police Md Abdullah Al Kafi, former DC (Mirpur) Md Jasim Uddin Mollah, former additional superintendent (Savar Circle) Md Shahidur Islam, former OC of Gulshan Police Station Md Mazharul Haque and former Detective Branch inspector Md Arafat Hossain.
Adequate security measures have been taken inside and outside of the tribunal following this.
The tribunal on October 17 issued arrest warrant against 46 accused including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina for their alleged involvement in the mass killing and crimes against humanity.
