Govt will not give any money to pay wages of Beximco workers

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has said that the government will not give any further funds to pay wages of Beximco Group’s workers.
The adviser said this while responding to newsmen at the finance ministry on Thursday (December 19).
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said, “It has already been decided that no money will be given to pay the wages of Beximco Group workers.”
He also said, “Earlier, money was given to the wages of Beximco Group workers. That money has also been transferred to the workers’ bank accounts. If it had not been given, they would have blocked the road.”
Earlier, units in Beximco Industrial Park were declared layoff due to lack of orders and defaulted loans”.
It was also decided that the government will approve new gas connections for industries, provided they are willing to pay bills at the same rate as the LNG import cost.
